DETROIT – Cobo Center’s giant new video screen will become an impressive new vehicle for artists to display their work for millions of people, thanks to a grant from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation.
Cobo Center has been awarded the Keep Michigan Beautiful (KMB) President’s plaque, their highest annual award. KMB was founded in 1965 by then Michigan Governor George Romney as a response to Lady Bird Johnson’s White House Conference on Beautification.
Cobo Center has received the Convention Industry Council’s Accepted Practices Exchange (APEX) certification, by the Green Meeting Industry Council (GMIC), a non-profit, membership-based professional organization spearheaded by the US Environmental Protection Agency, which provides educational resources to planners, suppliers, and venues seeking to meet the ever-rising standards consumers set for sustainable meetings.
Cobo Center announced today the inaugural 30:60 Video Scholarship for metro Detroit high school seniors and college students. Applicants will be asked to produce a 30 or 60 second video showcasing the character, determination and ingenuity of the city of Detroit, using Cobo Center as a focal point.
